Or, you can choose from a range of performance enhancing settings to fine-tune its parameters to your system and your heart’s content. From there, you can easily enjoy the basic V2 with almost any high-end phono cartridge without making any further adjustments.

On the underside you can switch between moving coil and moving magnet mode. There’s just one visible control, a single power switch on the upper surface that opens up a raft of possibilities. On the outside, we’ve kept it very simple. Its predecessor, the basic plus, was a multiaward winner and with the V2 we’ve taken all of that coveted ‘Plus’ technology up a notch. Within that sleek aluminum casing (with silver or black anodized finish) lies an inner world of highly refined features. Don’t be fooled by its cool, minimalist design. In this case, take a look at something like this. There’s nothing basic about the basic V2 phono stage. Under the circumstances, and given the £100 or so budget, a phono stage with a subsonic filter would appear to be the only viable option. Whilst this is undoubtably the best approach, the OP is not prepared to go down that rout. This is not difficult to achieve, but may require the services of a competent dealer and a budget that is way beyond the £100 or so that the OP seems prepared to spend on the system. Apart from the obviously excessive movement of the bass cones the noise may well be overloading the electronics at various points in the chain, phono stages themselves being notoriously easy to overload at bass frequencies, even the amps power stages may well be in distress given the large quantity of inaudible sub bass they are having to handle.Ī subsonic filter or low frequency eq might help but as they will come after the phono stage, they are not protecting this stage from overload, so still only doing part of the job.Ĭlearly a properly sorted turntable, arm, cartridge combination on a decent support is the real solution to the OP's issues, the current setup, whatever it's merits, is simply not working in a satisfactory manner. I will even go as fare as a new (used) amp if it also adds more power or better sound quality besides the addition of a subsonic filter becuause iot be more expensive but it can also make everything besides my turntable sound betterĬlick to expand. The current player is, for whatever reason, producing significant amounts of low frequency noise that may be causing all sorts of issues. The PRO-JECT PHONO BOX S might have a subsonic filter but it's 50% more expensive than the REGA FONO MINI A2D MK 2 USB and PRO-JECT PHONO BOX MM/MC phono stage that's to much of a price difference only for a subsonic filter, my current phono stage is half the price of the PRO-JECT PHONO BOX S and i have nothing against the sound quality, 100 euros, pounds is okay not 150.Ī new cartridge better suited for my turntable (stiffer stylus), is also okay for again 100 euros, pounds.

Phono stage with subsonic filter is okay REGA FONO MINI A2D MK 2 USB PHONO STAGE is a good phonostage for an okay price, it just don't have a subsonic filter, PRO-JECT PHONO BOX MM/MC for just about the same price don't have one either. Theres considerable less movement of the woofer playing the same music from tidal hifi, if there where the same amount i wouldn't have to much bass, woofer movement when playing lp's.
